Stealth Chinese Drug Paraphernalia in Chicago Area Dollar Store

Those clever Chi-Coms have devised a
dope pipe which looks like a tobacco pipe.
They sell them in Dollar Stores

Many municipalities around Chicago and elsewhere have long had ordinances banning the sale of "drug paraphernalia" -- dope pipes, bongs and toke clips -- the kinds of things that would readily be found in the ubiquitous "head shops" of the late 60s.

But leave it to those clever, entrepreneurial Chinese to find a way around this.

While walking in Skokie this past summer, I spied a product in the window of the Dollar Store at the corner of Oakton and Knox.

It's box blared "Durable Tobacco Pipe".

Having recently resumed pipe smoking after a bit of a hiatus, and attracted by the $2.99 price tag, I went in and bought it.

Sure it wasn't going to be a Peterson or a Savinelli, but for 3 bucks, if it did anything at all, It was a steal, right?

It looked just like a regular old bent briar smoking pipe.

Made by the Chi-Com Zhaofa Corporation of Shanghai, its box told me in broken English that the product was:

"--Durable and can be used repeatedly for a long time.
--Made of high-quality special materials. Not contain any harmful objects.
-- The rubber ring can prevent smoke and tar from leaking.
--Remove tar while using for about 10 times.
-- Replace with an auxiliary rubber ring if damages."

I have been buying pipes for some years and never was treated to such admonitions before and frankly, I'm still not sure what some of them mean.

So when I got my new $2.99 Chi-com pipe back home, I discovered that I was now the proud owner of a very cleverly disguised dope smoking pipe.

The bowl contained a perforated metal lining which cut the bowl size in half -- perfect for a small bit of pot.

The "rubber ring" to "prevent smoke and tar from leaking" was actually an adaptor that fit above the metal lined semi-bowl, and had a very tiny bowl, perfect size for smoking a crack cocaine "rock" or a bit of hashish -- but utterly useless for tobacco smoking.

Stuck with the crazy thing, and $3 poorer for it, I decided to at least give it a try with tobacco in the steel semi-bowl.

The taste was hideous. And the steel bowl became almost too hot to handle.

A friend suggested that the awful taste may be due to the fact that the "steel" bowl may have actually contained some lead -- a not uncommon occurrence in Chinese products.

So if any of you readers out there find yourselves with possible use for a well disguised, Chinese made dope smoking apparatus, I have an almost unused one available for a mere $3.

Or I'll trade it for your grandfather's good old, well broken-in briar tobacco pipe.

AON and Playboy Fleeing "World Class City" Chicago

heading for the warmer ambiance of El Lay

Two longtime pillars of the Chicago business community, AON insurance and Playboy announced this past week that they are moving their corporate headquarters out of Chicago.

Playboy, which was founded here in 1953 by native Chicagoan, Hugh Hefner, originally planned to move only its editorial departments to the West Coast, but announced on January 13, that it was moving everything out, lock, stock and bunny ears.

Playboy didn't explain why it was leaving for LA. Ultra-lefty California is going broke, just like Illinois and it certainly is no tax haven. Maybe Hefner just likes the weather and ambiance of El-Lay better than that of glacial Chicago.

But AON Corp., which is heading for greener pastures in London cited the financial benefits of a more global effective tax rate overseas compared with the United States

That makes sense when you consider that the top corporate tax rate in the US is 38% compared to 26% in the UK. And the Conservative British government has enacted a schedule for further reducing corporate tax rates to a top rate of 24% by 2014. In contrast, the socialist-oriented Obama regime continues to howl for ever higher corporate taxes.

Add to this the recent move of Illinois Democrats to increase state taxes on corporations by 65% and you don't have to be a genius to see why it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do business here and hire employees here.

AON Founder, Chicagoan, W. Clement Stone
would have surely approved of AON's move

AON was started by Chicagoan W. Clement Stone in 1925 with a $100 loan, a shoeshine and a smile. The thrifty and positive-thinking Stone turned that into Combined Insurance and then in turn into AON -- one of the largest risk management firms in the world.

Stone was a hard-core business conservative and a big financial backer of President Richard Nixon and the, then dominant, Illinois GOP.

Love Chicago, as he might have, Stone is surely not turning over in his grave at news of this hard-headed, sensible, decision to abandon Chicago.

In fact, W.Clement Stone would surely have approved of AON's decision to flee Chicago's socialist morass.

Zion-Benton Twp. SD 126: Hefty Salaries For Petty Union Malcontents

appalled that they should pay for health
care increases like everybody else

Posted below are the 2011 salaries for all of the teachers and administrators from Zion-Benton Twp. School District 126.

These are the very same union government workers who showed their colossal concern for educating youth, by shutting down their schools for four days last week as they went out on strike.

They were appalled by school board proposals to slow down their salary schedules to take it longer for them to haul down the fat $100k plus paychecks for their part-time 9 month gigs.

So committed to education

They were shocked that -- like the private sector workers who pay their salaries --they were actually asked to pay for the health insurance premium increases, that their friend Obama's health care scheme provoked.

Walgreen's Goes Soviet-Style: Do You Want a Bag For That?

Some years back I read that the large Soviet-era Moscow department store Gum, required their customers to bring their own bags.

Gum was a one place shopping venue for Russians to buy just about everything from shoes to groceries -- that is on those rare occasions when the store actually had shoes or groceries in stock.

And they had so little respect and concern for the customer that they wouldn't even supply a simple convenience such as a bag.

Now it seems, the Deerfield-based national drug store chain, Walgreens is going the same route.

After you pay for your purchase at Walgreens these days, the clerks ask you, "Do you want that in a bag?"

This is obviously a new corporate Walgreens policy, although the clerks I have asked deny it.

At three different Walgreens stores -- Howard & Western on the Evanston/Chicago border, Milwaukee & Western in Bucktown and in the Loop -- I have been asked by clerks: "Do you want that in a bag?"

Once, when my purchase was a six-pack of Walgreens' excellent house brand beer, the clerk asked: "Do you want that in a bag?"

I said, no, I'll just tie the six-pack to my belt and walk down the street and pull off the cans and chug them as I go along, the way the Canadians do --- of course I want it in a bag.

The provision of a bag to shopping customers is a convenience stemming from the free-market understanding that the consumer is king. Bags for American shoppers are as customary as providing cream and sugar for a restaurant customer's coffee.

But apparently infected with some corporate fixation on "going green," Walgreens has decided to "go Soviet" --- and to let the customer be damned.

Even Obama's base

Forget the polls that show Barack Hussein Obama with the lowest approval ratings at this point of any American President in recorded history.

Here is what I have heard on the streets of Chicago and Evanston:

-- A very animated Irish 20-something guy was in front of the Whole Foods on Chicago Avenue in downtown Evanston 2 Saturdays ago collecting signatures to get his wife on the ballot as an Obama delegate to the Democrat National convention. He was good looking, engaging and had an endearing smile.

He was striking out a lot.

Ultra-liberal Evanston went more than 70% for Obama, last time and Whole Foods generally attracts a health-oriented, lefty crowd.

I asked him "How're you doing?" He replied -- "Holy shit -- this is a rough crowd -- even our people seem to be pissed off at Obama."

--- I ran into Charles, a well spoken, well attired -- but with a slight growth of beard -- black man in the Starbucks on Main St. in Evanston yesterday. He was reading -- I was on my laptop. We began chatting and it turned out that we knew a lot of the same guys from our same era who had played sports on the North Shore.

He told me -- "Do you know 30% of the men in the US are unemployed today --the men --what does that say for our future?" he said. "I don't care what they say -- Obama and all the rest of them have just totally screwed up," he said.

--- I ran into Kenny -- a 53 year old black guy with a glass eye. He was coming outside of the McDonald's on Dempster and Dodge in Evanston. He asked me for a light. I asked him for a cigarette. He split his in half and we both smoked.

He told me tht he had worked for a black entreprenuer, who owned an auto repair shop on Main, near McCormick for more than 30 years. He just went out of business -- Kenny lost his job -- the entrepreneur is now driving a bus for $8 per hour, Kenny said.

"I don't care what they say about Obama being a black man and all that," he said. "This guy has totally fucked us all up."

Hey David Axlerod -- are you listening?

Teddy Kennedy Was An Even Bigger Moron Than We Thought

B.O. and Teddy: Icons of the American Socialist Left

I actually met U.S. Senator Teddy Kennedy. He lumbered into the urinal next to mine to take a leak -- it was in a mens room on the Senate side of the U.S. Capitol one fine autumn day in the early 80s.

Freshly out of college, I was there to deliver some news releases to the Senate Press Gallery. It was one of my duties in my exciting new job as semi-writer, semi-gofer.

As the years went on, I had ample time to extensively study Kennedy's horrendous voting record. He was a socialist, pure and simple -- and unlike his older brothers, he was decidedly anti-American in almost every public policy and foreign policy position he took.

He consistently garnered 0% ratings from the American Conservative Union and 100% ratings from the ultra-left wing ADA.

I thought him an idiot.

But I didn't realize what a complete nincompoop Teddy Kennedy actually was until I read recently, Laurence Leamer's fascinating 2001 tome, The Kennedy Men, 1901-1963.

This was no right-wing diatribe book. Leamer, a former New Republic writer, had the full co-operation of the Kennedy family.

And among the things he chronicled was the fact that:

Teddy was thrown out of Harvard for cheating on a Spanish test!

Now I can see perhaps getting tossed out for cheating on a calculus final exam, or a physics test -- or even a classical Greek exam.

But Spanish?

Only the absolute dummies took Spanish at my prep school, where you were expected to at least carry your weight in Latin, if not both Latin and Greek.

But Spanish?

In the fall of 1950, Teddy found himself in danger of flunking Spanish and losing his eligibility to play intramural sports unless he scrambled to pull off at least a C-minus in Spanish.

So he persuaded a less intellectually challenged student than he was to take the Spanish final in his place and the test proctors immediately caught on to the ruse. (Leamer, Page 277)

Both Teddy and the test taker were thrown out of Harvard for at least a year. So Teddy was told by his father's lawyers that it would look good for his readmission prospects if he spent a year or so in the U.S.Army.

So the great iconic liberal -- the genius of health care reform -- went down to the Army recruiting office and Teddy compounded his display of boneheaded Spanish cheating idiocy, by accidentally signing the wrong Army induction forms and enlisting in the U.S. Army for 4 years! (Leamer, Page 278)

His father Joe, was furious and was no doubt convinced that he and Rose had spawned a complete imbecile.

So the politically formidable former bootlegger and pro-Nazi U.S. Ambassador to England, Joseph P. Kennedy had to spend the next year pulling strings to get his moron son, Teddy, out of the Army after only 2 years, instead of the 4 to which he had contracted.

Although, in fairness, Teddy might have a mitigating excuse.

He might have been drunk that day.

So there you have it -- political icon of the American Left, Teddy Kennedy, flunking Spanish and filling out the wrong form so as to accidentally sign on for 4 years in the Army, instead of 2.

And Teddy was the genius, de-facto architect of our new Obama socialized health care scheme.

Chicago's Zany Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Orwell said he'd never give
a Farthing to the Salvation Army

In his eminently wonderful chronicle of the plight of the homeless in depression era England, Down and Out in Paris and London, the great journalist of that era, George Orwell, ended his wonderful book by saying "I will never fail to give money to a panhandler -- and I will never put another farthing in a Salvation Army kettle."

Orwell's complaint was that, when he was a member of the multitude of homeless in depression-era England of the 1930s, the Christian sect of the Salvation Army, wouldn't give the hungry guys a lousy piece of bread with margarine, unless they endured a long-winded evangelical religious diatribe.

The Salvation Army religious sect is better than that in the USA today.

No question, they help out a lot of people with food, clothing, etc. But their vaunted drug and alcohol religious-conversion re-hab program is an absurd throwback to their idiotic religious past.

Today they collect our money via bell ringers outside various Jewel-Osco and Walgreens stores throughout the Chicago metro area.

I would just -- in the past -- throw a little change into their kettles -- a nice Christmas gesture, you know.

But this year, I actually got to know some of the characters that the Salvation Army hires.

Some are decidedly weird -- some are outright scary.

I got to know them while I spent the last few weeks gathering signatures outside of Walgreens' and Jewel-Osco stores, on behalf of a candidate for Appellate Court Judge.

I was standing right next to them, enduring the same bone-chilling cold and soliciting just as they were.

This is what I found:

-- The bellringers are paid employees of the tax-exempt 501(c)3 Salvation Army corporation.

-- They are paid, on the average, $400 a week.

-- One that I met, a black man named named Kenneth, outside the Walgreens at Waukegan and Lake Ave. in Glenview, was spouting wild political diatribes on behalf of Barack Obama (is this the official position of the tax-exempt Salvation Army Church?)

-- Another that I met, a Puerto Rican man, outside the Jewel-Osco at Kedzie and Howard in Evanston told me that he was a "streetwise" salesman -- who had sold a variety of items, including socks, T-shirts and drugs. He also told me that he that many bell ringers carried tweezers, so that if a dollar bill was just sticking up out of the top of the kettle, they could just pluck it out and pocket it. (Somehow, I got the idea that he might have had a pair of tweezers in his pocket.)

-- Another that I met, a rather loud, fat black girl from Lombard, in front of the Walgreens at Howard and Western, on the Chicago/Evanston border, wildly complained when I was smoking my pipe about 5 yards from her, in a fully legal fashion, 15 feet from the entrance -- with the wind blowing the smoke in the opposite direction. She wildly complained to the Walgreens manager -- who essentially told her to go F--- off. Great PR for the Salvation Army (don't ya think?).

A few years ago in Ohio, a Salvation Army bell ringer was convicted of stealing his entirely cash-packed drum.

Having seen the Chicago Salvation Army bell ringers, I am not at all surprised.

No wonder the great English writer, George Orwell told the Salvation Army to go F--- off.

Hitler Declares War on the USA: And Americans Respond with Might -- And Music

We're a little late on this one, since the 70th anniversary of Adolf Hitler's wildly self-destructive unilateral declaration of war on the USA was 6 days ago.

But reprinted below is a wonderfully cogent explanation of American's powerful mobilization against Hitler's National Socialists -- as well as against his murderous Imperial Japanese allies, that it provoked.

Included, very nicely, is music from the era. It is reprinted, by permission from the Chicago Schlager Music Review -- ed.

Hitler Told Germans That The American Men
Would Not Fight -- WOW!, Was He Ever Wrong!

70 years ago today, Adolf Hitler, the elected National Socialist leader of the German Reich, unilaterally declared war on the United States of America.

Four days earlier, The USA had been attacked by Hitler's Axis ally, the Empire of Japan, which bombed the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in the American territory (now a State) of Hawaii, killing 2,800 Americans.

Declaring war on the USA was, perhaps Hitler's biggest mistake ever.

The Anglophilic US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, had been looking for a way of getting the US involved militarily in saving Great Britain from the Nazi onslaught.

But due to formidable pressures from the millions of German-American and Scandinavian-American voters in the Midwestern US (who did not want to send their sons to fight German boys) and the millions of city dwelling Irish-American voters (who had nothing but contempt for their long-time enemy, Great Britain) Roosevelt was unable to convince Congress to enter the European war.

But with his unilateral declaration of war on America on December 11, 1941, Hitler unwittingly solved Roosevelt's political problem.

After Hitler declared war on the American people, its elected representatives in the U.S. Congress reciprocated on December 12, 1941.

By 1944 American Workers Were Turning Out
9,000 Warplanes a Month -- More Than 300 a Day

In so doing, Hitler put the German people at odds with the greatest industrial power on the face of the earth.

Within a few short years, American workers would be turning out 300,000 combat aircraft -- (at one point 9,000 planes a month -- more than 300 a day) -- and 200,000 tanks and almost 1 million heavy artillery pieces.

20 million American men would leave civilian life and take up arms (including this writer's German-American father and uncles) and become one of the most potent fighting forces ever to take the field in world history.

Those civilian-soldiers fought two powers on two widely divergent fronts, ranging from Burma and China in the West all the way to Berlin and Prague in the East.

Hitler scoffed at Americans calling them "a bunch of undisciplined gangsters who would never fight."

But one Wehrmacht Lieutenant in Italy wrote in his memoirs after the war, "They told us the Americans would never fight. But when the Americans kept coming and coming up the hill at us -- wave upon wave -- I was never so scared in my life."

The 2012 Chicago election season officially began last night at 5pm. That was when hopefuls for state and local judicial office in Illinois needed to have submitted their nominating petitions to the State Board of Elections down in Springfield.

For weeks now,candidates and their ward heelers have been accosting and annoying citizens in train stations and at shopping malls, pleading for signatures on the petitions requisite to getting a spot on the March primary election ballot.

A perusal of the submitted petitions suggests that this years' crop of hopefuls has been as skillful as ever at playing the Chicago ballot ethnic name game.

In ethnically Balkanized Chicago, the stealth ethno name game has been elevated to a high art form.

On the ballot, you will see a dizzying array of ethnically transmorphed names. all designed to convince you that the candidate is really a reliable member of your tribe.

That is why you will invariably see a large number of female judicial candidates resurrect usage of their maiden names and append them by way of hyphen to the non-descript names of their WASP husbands.

For instance, Susan Smith, Attorney, will become Susan Murphy-Smith, candidate for Cook County judge and ardent daughter of Hibernia.

The most notorious example of this was a Northwest side State Representative in the 70's and 80's by the name of Pete Peters.

You might say he put a little kielbasa between the two slices of Wonder bread.

This year we have a Cook County judicial hopeful by the name of Jessica O'Brien.

The name conjours up images of a fair Irish lass, strolling the lanes and byways of County Cork on the auld sod.

Thing is, Mrs. O'Brien was born Jessica Arong in Cebu City on the Philippine Islands, half a world away from the Emerald Isle. But Filipino's are not a potent voting bloc in Chicago and her feminism notwithstanding, Ms. Jessica Arong-O'Brien is more than happy to bear the male oppression of using her husband's name -- for ballot purposes, at least.

In the still heavily Waspish North Shore suburbs, the Democrats favor Jewish candidates with decidedly Waspy-sounding names.

Lake County's 58th State Rep. district was for the past decade represented by a peroxide blond with the non-descript name of Karen May. Ms. May, along with her husband Mort, belongs to a prominent Highland Park Jewish congregation but saw no real electoral upside to putting her name on the ballot as Karen Rubin-May, her feminism also notwithstanding.

May is retiring now, but to replace her the Democrats are putting up an ultra-left wing civil rights lawyer, a U-Cal Berkeley grad named Scott Drury.

Needless to say, If Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton had been so treated by NBC, there would have been howls of protest from feminists and other lefties. There would have been calls for wholesale dismissals of those involved.

But to date, we've heard only a tongue-in-cheek quasi apologia from O'Fallon and NBC has been totally mum.

Today Russ Limbaugh wondered aloud what would have transpired if Michelle Obama had been greeted on stage somewhere with a background rendition of Sir Mix-a-Lot's 1992 rap song, "I like Big Butts."

There they go again. I'm talking about the babes who run Northwestern University's Daily Northwestern -- the Big-10's only all-girl student newspaper.

It seems like these Medill journalism acolytes are devoted to reporting all the news, all the time, except when the criminal miscreants preying on Northwestern students happen to be black.

That little tidbit of information goes right down the NU Orwellian memory hole.

In last Monday's edition, on page 2, crack Daily Northwestern news sleuth, Susan Du, apprised the student body of the latest criminal assault on an NU student by the local toughs who populate the "other: Evanston.

"A Northwestern student standing on the porch of his apartment was robbed early Sunday morning... At approximately 1:20 a.m., four male teenagers walking on the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue...grabbed the student's smart phone and fled westbound on Leon Place, the student told officers. Evanston and University Police were unable to locate the four teenagers, described as 16 to 17 years old and ranging from 5'7" to 5'10" tall.

The student could not offer a more detailed description of the teens, according to the notification."

HMMM. What's wrong with this picture?

How about the race of the assailants? Does the erudite Ms. Du mean to suggest to us that the victim was capable of reporting the precise heights and age range of these latest assailants yet was incapable of distinguishing the fact that they were, in fact, black?

This comes on the heels of a September 26th report in the Daily Northwestern about a white student who was pistol-whipped and robbed near campus, when they likewise neglected to report that the assailants were black.

So NU students, go ahead and live in your little Daily Northwestern induced PC fantasyland, if you like. As for me, I'm walking down another street when I see a gang of 4 black Evanston "youths" approaching.

And maybe also putting my hand around the grip of my concealed firearm.

Michelle Obama Should Shut Down Gene & Jude's Hot Dog Stand

Our petite First Lady, Michelle Obama is in Chicago today to lecture us on inner city "food deserts" and later dine with members of the upper 1% to cajole them out of their money for her spouse's campaign.

As most know, the svelte Michelle has spent her White House years busily sermonizing over the need for healthy food.

She has been shaming and forcing schools into replacing nachos and pizza with carrot sticks. She has bullied soup makers into purging their products of dreaded salt.

And she has sponsored a "National Dance Day" to encourage us sluggards to exercise so that we too might have buttocks and thighs as firm and pert as her very own.

So while she is back here, I say she should take a side trip out to suburban River Grove and safeguard our very lives by shutting down that house of gastronomic terrors and early sclerotic death, Gene & Jude's Hot Dogs.

I was recently out in the near Western Chicago suburbs with a friend who regularly works out that way and he insisted that we lunch at the famous Gene & Jude's hot dog stand.

By 11:30 the place was packed
with lots of city employees

I had never heard of the joint, but he raved about it. He said it was voted the best hot dog in America, bar none. And sure enough, an internet search revealed that it was voted as making America's best hot dog by "Every Day with Rachel Ray" and the "Serious Eats" blog.

When we got there at around 11:30 the place was already packed. The parking lot was 80% full and a line snaked around the interior of the diner-like edifice.

Inside, assembly line style, 11 workers mechanically took and filled orders for Gene & Jude's very limited menu of hot dogs, double dogs and tamales and fries.

All the dogs came with heavily salted, fresh cut, oily fries packed in the wrapper atop the dog. In a rather idiotic nod to Chicago tradition, you can't get ketchup there, even for your fries. But the counter along the walls had at least a dozen full-sized cardboard salt containers, in case you wanted an extra dose.

I noticed that the place was packed with Chicago city employees (the city is just across River Road) and airport employees. One guy wearing a shirt emblazoned with "Airport Security" walked out with about eight orders. Seems like the TSA crowd needs oily fast-food fare to fuel up for a busy afternoon of goosing and groping the travelling citizenry.

The place has been inducted into the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame, but I wasn't exactly bowled over by their dogs. I'd rather mine slathered in green relish and mustard with tomato slices, raw onion bits, a kosher pickle atop and a dash of celery salt as opposed to Gene and Jude's rather Spartan garnishment of mere onions and mustard.
Still the fact remains that the iconic establishment is very popular and wildly unhealthful. This is of particular import to the Chicago taxpayers, since so many city payrollers flock to the joint. We will be stuck with the bills for their artery cleaning and post-gripper care and future gripper prevention.

Self-appointed food nanny Michelle Obama should swoop right in there and snatch up those death provending salt cans. She should confiscate those cancerous red hots and pour those gallons of artery clogging oil (is it unsaturated?) down the drain.

Michelle should give them the ultimatum -- fresh raw vegetables and fruit juices fill your menu from now on or out of business you go!

But just as Chicago's school kids are filling cafeteria trash bins with Michelle's healthful celery stalks and carrot sticks -- with a menu like that -- out of business Gene and Jude's would go.

First he sponsored a bill to preclude banks from collecting fees for debit card use from his pals at Walmart and his other big retailer contributors.

Consequently, banks now have to shake you and me down $5 a month to underwrite the costs of processing debit card use.

Now Durbin, ever the buttinsky, has urged Major League Baseball to ban chewing tobacco and any other tobacco products during the upcoming World Series.

Let's see, unemployment's effectively above 10%, mortgage foreclosures are still rampant, the cost of living's climbing -- yea, this is what I want my U.S. Senator to be agonizing over -- baseball players dipping Skoal and chewing Red Man.

Schaumburg District 211 Foot-Dragging on Transparency: Teachers Salaries Listed

For several months, parents and taxpayers' advocates have been politely asking the Board of Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 to stream their school board meetings on-line.

This is hardly an onerous request. Many school districts do it gladly to save parents the trouble of getting a baby-sitter and travelling out on a work night to see their elected representatives making decisions that effect their kids.

But the honchos at District 211 have been hemming and hawing and finding scores of obstacles. To hear them explain it, you would think parents and taxpayers were asking them to land a unionized teacher on the moon.

District 211, the state's largest school district, operates 5 High Schools -- Palatine H.S., Schaumburg H.S., Hoffman Estates H.S., William Fremd H.S., James B. Conant H.S. and serves more than 12,500 students from Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Palatine, Schaumburg, and portions of Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, South Barrington, and Streamwood in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Those facilities are crawling with hi-tech devices and one would guess more than their share of techno geeky kids who could have a webcam up and running on-line in no time.

So why the High School District 211 foot dragging?

Maybe they would just as soon keep parents and taxpayers in the dark about some of the decisions they make at their meetings.

CUSD 300 Teachers Rally To Drive Sears To Texas: CUSD 300 Teachers Salaries Listed Here

CUSD 300 union teachers
rallying to milk Sears dry

Posted below are the salaries of all teachers and administrators in the Algonquin/Carpentersville/Hoffman Estates area Community Unit School District 300.

That district runs Dundee High School, H.D. Jacobs High School and Hampshire High School as well as 13 pre-schools, 17 elementary and 6 middle schools in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.

It's been in the news lately since Sears, which was induced to move its corporate HQ and training facility into their taxing district, has threatened to move unless its promised tax breaks are extended.

Interestingly, Sears has been seriously looking at moving out of high-tax, heavily Democrat Illinois to 2 states, Ohio and Texas, which are run by Republican Governors committed to job growth thru low taxes and a laissez faire regulatory posture.

Sears' relocation would cost the area 6,000 private sector jobs at a bare minimum.

The union teachers and education establishment administrators of CUSD 300 have been in a frenzy over the prospect of the tax incentive extension for Sears. They don't want it.

The CUSD 300 Superintendent is one Michael Bregy who just moved into the $242k job and has 96 teachers and administrators who haul down more than $100k a year.

He says he wants some vague, unspecified, "alternatives to be developed" to save Sears' 6,000 jobs while at the same time milking them for all they're worth. Bregy wants "creative thinking" and a resistance to the "hostage mentality" of fearing corporate relocation.

CUSD's education establishment held a big rally yesterday to whip up opposition to the tax incentive for Sears. And if they succeed in pressuring legislators to tax Sears, it is almost a certainty that the corporation will pick up its 6,000 local jobs and simply move.

That reminds me an awful lot of the black sheriff in "Blazing Saddles" who threatened to shoot himself if he didn't get his way. (You can see the hilarious clip of that scene here.)

For about the past 40 years, the Village of Skokie has been trying to figure out ways of revitalizing its decrepit downtown section.

They tried calling it a "Fashion Center" hoping to attract clothiers to its vacant storefronts, but all it attracted was one of those cheap fruit markets and a bunch of Tae Kwon Do storefront self-defense schools. (These are proving immensely popular now that Skokie is home to many Section 8 apartment dwellers from the old CHA housing projects, including a celebrated member of last summer's Chicago black mob attacks.)

Potemkin Village-style, they tried putting fancy facades in front of all the vacant storefronts with uplifting slogans about a revitalized downtown Skokie. It looked a bit better, but generated not a farthing in new tax revenue.

So it seems that the big-spending, ever burgeoning Skokie government has hit upon a tried and true cash-generating strategy, as old as the small town Mississippi speed trap: shaking down passing motorists.

Today at 9:15 am, there were 4 Skokie Policemen, on foot, conducting a roadblock at the corner of Niles Center Rd. and Lincoln Avenue -- the gateway to (or exit from) Skokie's downtown commercial ghost town.

They were checking for seatbelt use and issuing tickets.

A beautiful clear sunny morning -- scores of cars equipped with airbags and a plethora of hi-tech safety gadgets, on a 30 mph street -- and Skokie is using government force to insure that all you entering and exiting drivers are safely ensconced in your seatbelts.

Germany's Perplexing Love Affair With David Hasselhoff

People say that the Germans have no sense of humor, but I say that is a bum rap.

For instance, Germans think that David Hasselhoff is one of the greatest pop singers of all time.

Now that is funny!

I first learned this several years back when a German friend told me that David Hasselhoff had become a big star in Germany.

My first reaction was: who? But upon reflection I recalled that he was the big, hunky grade B TV actor of 70s soap operas, 80s Knight Rider and 90s Baywatch fame.

And then my German friend apprised me that Hasselhoff was famous in Germany as a pop music singing sensation.

To which I replied: You've got to be kidding!

You see, among sentient Americans, the chisel-featured, barrel-chested, 59 year old German-American is barely considered an actor. And he decidedly is not considered a singer.

There is one basic reason for this and that is that David Hasselhoff cannot sing.

Oh yes, he can passably carry a tune, just as any Chicago electrician might after downing several pitchers of beer while out with the boys at the local saloon on karaoke night.

And put him in a hi-tech recording studio with knob-turning, audio witch doctors and a large chorus of back up singers and he might turn out something with a vaguely discernible resemblance to music.

And yet for the past two decades, from '89 to the present (he has a 2011 album at #3 in Austria and high on the German charts), David Hasselhoff has been to German audiences and record buyers, bigger than the Beatles -- better than Elvis.

To Americans, this is befuddling and mind-numbing.

It ranks in incomprehensibility with the adulation that the French have accorded to the asinine 50's American comic actor, Jerry Lewis. The surrender monkeys actually think that Lewis is a comedic genius. YIKES!

In Germany, Hasselhoff cashed in with an output of genuinely banal, garage band-quality, soft rock, reminiscent of AM radio fare from his 80s and 90s TV heyday.

Compounding the aural atrocity, Hasselhoff churned out some truly hideous covers of iconic American pop classics.

If you ever really want to ruin your day, just listen to Hasselhoff mangle the soft, vibrant Mamas and the Papas '67 classic, California Dreamin'. (You can hear it here, if you really feel you must.)

And if you live in a high-rise, please, stay away from the balcony if you should decide to listen to Hasselhoff butcher the Beachboys' classic ode to summer fun, California Girls -- you just might be tempted to jump off.

Hasselhoff's European anthem is a tediously droning song entitled, Looking For Freedom. AOL Radio ranked it as #98 on the list of the 100 worst pop songs ever recorded. No self respecting American record label would give it a second glance. No American FM pop station would give it the time of day. Yet this audio atrocity reached #1 on the German and Swiss charts in 1989.

There are 310 million Americans and I would hazard to say that about 200 million of them possess greater vocal talent than David Hasselhoff -- yet he is the one we exported to Europe.

Worse than that, the Germans not only bought his shtick, but they actually think that Hasselhoff is the greatest thing to hit Europe since the panzerfaust --- or the Stuka dive bomber.

Eurovision Song Contest Worried About Muslim Terrorism

The Eurovision Song Contest is a big deal in Europe. It's kind of a super, multinational version of American Idol that has been going on every year since 1956.

But this year, for the first time ever, it is being held in a Moslem country and European officials are scared to death that Moslem terrorists might try to turn the event into an anti-European bloodbath.

Customarily, the event is hosted by the country which produced the preceding year's winning act. Last year it was won by Ell/Nikki, a singing duo from Azerbaijan who aped American pop sounds with almost perfect Midwestern US accents.

As a result, the 2012 event will be held in scenic Baku. (So after Oslo and Dusseldorf, do you think there might be just a little dropoff in Euro music fan attendance this year?)

The event, by tradition should go to Ell/Nikki's country, a former Soviet state with a 99.2% Moslem population, a strong radical Wahabi Muslim sect, an Al Quaeda presence and a history of Moslem terrorism.

As a result, the governing board of the Eurovision Song Contest has taken the odd step of demanding written assurances from the former Soviet, Moslem host country of: 1) security guarantees for the thousands of participants and guests 2) a relaxation of Soviet-style travel and visa impediments and 3) guarantees of freedom of speech and press in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights.

Eurovision's chief honcho, anticipating resistance from the former Soviets issued a blunt statement:

"A commitment to these fundamental circumstances has been the cornerstone of the success of the Eurovision Song Contest since its foundation in 1956," says Dr. Frank-Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the Reference Group, adding that "2012 is no exception to that."

In an email to the Chicago Lampoon, Jarmo Siim, a PR shill for Eurovision tried to pooh-pooh the unusual request as a routine matter. But when asked if the same worried request was made of the last 2 previous host countries, Germany and Norway, he sidestepped the question.

No doubt, the Eurovision bureaucrats, with a strong interest in making things seem normal, will play down their worries over Europeans getting massacred by crazed Moslems at the May 2012 event in Baku.

It's odd, but true. The 100mm cigarette or "longs", so common today did not exist until 1967 when Benson & Hedges introduced them.

Benson and Hedges was a long-standing British cigarette manufacturer which was the official supplier of smokes to the British Royal family.

Its American branch was bought by Phillip Morris in 1954. The brand was among the least popular here until 1967, when B&H retained the ad agency of Wells, Rich, Greene to introduce its new, longer, 100 mm cigarette.

They came out with a series of semi-humorous, Clio-award winning ads playing, tongue-in-cheek, on the "disadvantages" of the longer cigarette.

Benson & Hedges became a big seller almost instantly and competing brands hurried out their own 100s to try and keep their brand loyalty.

It seems that a group of health food buttinskys calling themselves the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, erected a billboard outside Green Bay's Lambeau Field illustrating the horrors of cheese consumption with a grim reaper attired in a cheesehead.

Barristers for Foamation, Inc., makers of the Wisconsin hi-fashion haberdashery, cried foul and forced the medical chicken-littles to airbrush out their trademarked headgear.

Still the medical flimflammers remain unrepentant, insisting that cheese consumption is a major source of most of what ails America. They rail against consumption of cheeseburgers, pizza, nachos and other cheese-laden death traps.

On May 4th, the Illinois State Senate passed a bill to grant in-state tuition to the offspring of illegal aliens illicitly residing in Illinois.

Eleven Republican State Senators voted for the bill along with the Democrat majority.

With a mariachi band playing giddily at the state capitol, that august body voted 45-11 to pass the cutely monikered, "Dream Act," which also facilitated the setup of a scholarship fund for the illegals, which, for now, will be privately endowed.

The illegal alien lobby, ICIRR was ecstatic and with good reason. For two decades they have been pushing illegal alien amnesty, one drink at a time. So this was a full fledged boilermaker with 100 proof booze.

Veiled with high-sounding humanitarian concern "for the children," (it's always for the kiddies) it constituted yet another step toward legitimizing the half million illegals who snuck across our borders and squatted within the confines of this particular state.

The bill would have waltzed through the Democrat dominated upper chamber without the encouragement of the RINO 11. But their apparent insulting dismissal of their middle class conservative voting base -- and their apparent unconcern for the citizen children of the middle class -- is more than a simple insult.

The "combine" GOP establishment should be told to kiss their dream of a GOP state Senate majority goodbye, because thoughtful citizens shouldn't consider even lifting a finger for these sellouts. These 11 pols cast their lot with the imagined power of pro-illegal alien voter cohorts. I hope they get lots of liberal Latino votes, because I think -- some of them at least -- will need them.

Of the dirty eleven, nine are seeking re-election and will be on the ballot on March 12th. Some are in safe seats. Some are not. And some will face primary challenges.

State Senator Pam Althoff 32nd district, McHenry County has announced that she is running for re-election. She not only voted for the de-facto amnesty grab, but sent out a news release saying what a great thing it was.

State Senator Larry Bomke Springfield area, 50th district has announced that he, having been gerrymandered out of his base, is not running. He is going back to his real estate business. Good Riddance! (And good luck in this RE market.)

State Senator Bill Brady, from the 44th district Springfield area, was the milquetoast GOP candidate for Governor last time who defied a nationwide anti-Democrat trend and lost to the clownish Pat Quinn. He has announced that he will be running for reelection.

Evanston Cops Beat Bushes For Teen Potheads-NU Student Mugged At Gunpoint

To combat its burgeoning crime rate, Evanston has begun putting walking beat cops on the streets. They can be regularly seen in the downtown commercial district but I didn't know they were out beating the bushes along the sewerage canal on the North suburban city's West side.

Word comes on page 2 of last Friday's edition of the Daily Northwestern (The Big-10's first all girl newspaper) that 2 Evanston cops were on foot patrol last Tuesday at 5pm traversing a path in the weeds along the Peter Jans golf course.

There, along the sewerage canal they spied 2 teen age miscreants sitting on a bridge and smoking a yellow bong.

Anyone who was old enough to sit in front of the boob tube in the 60s certainly remembers the Marlboro Man TV commercials.

With the stirring Western theme (it was the musical score for the classically great movie, The Magnificent 7) and the Marlboro Man with his chiseled masculine features, they were as much a part of the 60s TV landscape as Andy Griffith or the Beverly Hillbillies.

More than anything, the Marlboro Man ads were responsible for propelling Marlboro from an also-ran brand in the 50s to the #1 worldwide best seller.

"Boros" as we called them, were this writer's constant companion through the first two years of undergraduate education (we could even smoke in lecture halls and in discussion rooms), before they were replaced by Camel straights, with their higher quality Turkish tobaccos.

Chicago Media Maintains Race Reporting Double Standard

Avondale hit-and-run killing was a "man."

The racial censorship double standard continues in Chicago's ever politically-correct liberal news media.

WLS radio reported this morning that the suspect in Monday's River North bank robbery was "a blond haired, white woman wearing a baseball cap and pony tail."

For the past 2 days they have reported that the suspect in the Sunday hit-and-run killing of 82 year old Margaret Heffernan was "a man in his 20s or 30s wearing dark clothing."

Privately, Chicago Police say the suspect is "dark skinned, Hispanic in appearance."

Given the epidemic of Latino hit-and-run crimes in the Chicago area, that should come as no surprise.

But the Chicago news media won't give the full description of the Latino suspect. They just want you to keep on the lookout for a man.

The Chicago Tribune's milquetoast editor, Gerould Kern said on June 10th that racial descriptions of suspects serve no useful social purpose.

And lefty Tribune columnists Mary Schmich and Dawn Turner Trice wrote that racial descriptions of minority criminal suspects make minorities feel bad so they should be relegated to the Orwellian memory hole.

So all you citizen crimestoppers out there, keep a sharp lookout for a man, 20 to 30 years old.

Big Chicken Flap in Chicago's 18th Ward

Alderman Lona Lane of the far South side 18th ward has embarked on a crusade to keep Chicago chicken-free. I have seldom been in agreement with this Obamaite, liberal Democrat solon, but on this score I am 100% in her corner.

Ms. Lane has introduced a bill to the Chicago City Council to ban chicken coops, chicken breeding and chicken keeping in her Marquette Park area ward.

Why, you might ask, has this become an issue?

Well it seems that some of our fellow citizens are chicken fanciers who have taken to keeping sizable assemblages of the fowl things on their urban properties.

Much of this activity seems to be taking place in Ms. Lane's 18th ward.

In fact, the 18th ward chicken advocates have organized themselves into a Google group entitled (I am not making this up) The Chicago Chicken Enthusiasts Group.

There and on their Facebook page, they gather to chat about chicken lore, exchange chicken-raising tips and to hatch dark plots to foil Alderman Lane's onerous anti-chicken legislation.

I learned about this roiling controversy by tuning in left-wing WCPT radio's Sunday morning Mike Nowak gardening show yesterday. On the "sustainable food segment" of his broadcast Nowak interviewed one Michelle Thoma, a chicken-fancier and ringleader of the Google chicken enthusiasts group.

Ms. Thoma said she raises chickens on the roof of her urban abode. Kind of free roof range chickens.

She says she does this because the chickens supply her with healthful, organic, chemical free eggs and because chickens are really nice animals.

Her cantankerous neighbors do not agree.

They object to her rooster's around-the-clock cock-a-doodle-dooing (as loud as a dog's barking), to the defecatory odors emitted by the fowl creatures and to the notion that her aviary is giving the neighborhood the ambience of Jed Clampett's pre-Beverly Hills, Bugtussle, N.C.

Alderman Lane tends to agree and adds that urban chicken-keeping can lead to avian diseases that would kill robins and sparrows and other nice birds.

The WCPT chicken enthusiast said that she will be conducting her annual informational chicken tour of the ward (formerly called hen-a-palooza) this coming Sunday for the benefit of Aldermanic staffers and others to allay citizen chicken concerns.

To counteract this insidious pro-chicken propaganda, The Chicago Lampoon, in conjunction with Alderman Lona Lane's office will be conducting an anti-chicken teach-in at the very same time.

It will take place next Sunday from 1 to 2pm at the W. 87th Street and Western Avenue KFC.

In prep school, one of our proctors (a senior who was 17 years old or so) would have his mother buy him a carton of Tareyton's every week or so.

We would think it a matter of high scientific exploration to take apart his Tareyton filters to find the little mound of granulated charcoal inside.

But in the 50's, before they instituted this great smoking innovation, and before they came out with their famous, "I'd rather fight than switch," commercials, it seems that Tareyton was best known for the high art of its TV commercials as in the following Tareyton TV ad:

Arne Duncan: Let's Double Bloated Teachers' Salaries

Arne Duncan is Obama's education Czar who was the mastermind of the laughably inept Chicago Public School System, where a full 6% of high school freshmen will earn a bachelor's degree by age 25.

Exhibiting the same jackassery that animated his Chicago performance, Duncan said Friday that we should double the salaries of America's unionized government school teachers.

Apparently no one sent Duncan the memo which shows that most government school teachers are as wildly overpaid as they are poorly educated.

Make no mistake about it, government school teachers are ridiculously overpaid. A full 55% of the teachers at the Highland Park/Deerfield High School pull down more than six figures a year for their 9 month gigs.

Retired Illinois teachers haul in up to 85% of their highest career salaries for life. That is why, in some downstate Illinois towns, the richest person is a retired public school teacher.

But Arne Duncan says taxpayers should double their salaries.

This prompted WLS radio talker, Don Wade, on Tuesday to wonder aloud, "Who are these people in the Obama White House?"

It prompted me to add aloud, "And what planet did they come from?"

West Rogers Park Cat and Dog Haven in Danger of Foreclosure

The morning feeding at Sharon's

On the far North side of Chicago in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, there is an immaculate bi-level with a well manicured lawn.

For the past half century, it has been home to as many as a dozen cats and three or four dogs at any given time. Today there are 9 formerly stray kitties quietly residing there. You can see profiles of them here.

They are all companion animals that were abandoned, left to the tender mercies of the streets and rescued by an energetic 60-something lady named Sharon.

But now, due to the machinations of a group of unscrupulous con artists, they are all in danger of losing their home.

Sharon's refuge for these orphans is the very picture of order and cleanliness.

No fewer than a half dozen of the "Litter Maid" automatic self-cleaning litter boxes are inconspicuously placed around the house. Her cleaning regimen is regular and rigorous.

The morning feeding is really something to behold. The cats gather in the kitchen around the refrigerator like clockwork around 6 am every day.

Sharon arrives shortly thereafter to mete out their breakfasts in separate little dishes. She even makes provision for the individual dietary peculiarities of several of them.

She keeps five or six different sized pet carriers in her garage, for the seemingly constant trips to the vet (a friendly vet gives her a volume discount)or the occasional trips to the groomers (for nail clipping for the skittish ones.)

Aside from this, Sharon feeds several groups of abandoned cats miles from her home. She discovered them in the inner city Roseland and Englewood neighborhoods, in the course of her real estate work.

Lately she had been making daily trips to feed a fearful and abandoned little Shih-tzu mixed dog who had holed up beneath a trailer behind a synagogue, a few blocks from her home. She kept that little dog alive for about three months until finally, some neighbors coaxed the fearful little fellow out and enthusiastically brought him home.

Sharon's reputation as the neighborhood animal care-giver has apparently spread. Three weeks ago she awoke to find a box on her front doorstep containing an orange tabby kitten sitting atop a small blanket with two opened cans of cat food in the box. The kitten was placidly sitting there while another, larger orange tabby -- almost certainly the mother -- nervously hovered nearby.

Obviously these cats were abandoned by someone who, for whatever reason (perhaps home foreclosure) could not or would not care for them any longer -- but did not want to turn them over to the vagaries of the city animal pound.

Sharon took the kitten in straightaway, but the older cat was fearful and would not be approached. For two days the elder cat stayed nearby -- wandering outdoors -- obviously unsettled at the drastic and sudden change in her life regimen. Sharon left food for her daily and with kind words and a gentle manner, she finally coaxed her in on the second day.

When the two were reunited in Sharon's basement office, they immediately displayed an exuberant familiar playfulness and affection. It was something out of Paul Simon's "Mother and Child Reunion."

Now there are two more residents of Sharon's congenially informal North Side companion animal abode. And two more mouths to feed.

Sharon estimates that she has saved more than 100 stray cats, kittens and dogs over the years. Most she placed into good homes. Some of the others stayed in her home for the duration of their natural lives.

Like Ron, afflicted with feline HIV, he showed up at her door (where she had been leaving food for the feral Oliver) and it was clear that he had been someones pet at one time.

Sharon let him in and segregated him in her gated living room. She took him to the vet where the HIV positive condition showed up. As such, he was sure to be put down by any shelter, but if kept separate from other cats, he can lead a long natural life.

So today, the street urchin, Ron, has his own living room where he whiles away his hours sitting in the sun that pours through the Southern exposed windows.

But this little oasis of cleanliness and care may soon be coming to an end.

Some months back, Sharon was bilked out of tens of thousands of dollars by a cabal of unscrupulous mortgage brokers. When she realized what had happened, she pursued them in court --- for more than a year--- won a judgement, but has yet to collect as the con-men are using every cheap delaying tactic to put off or entirely avoid paying her back.

Law enforcement authorities have expressed an interest in going after the shysters, as well, but that is little solace to the care-giving lady in her 60s who now has to return to work full time as a domestic care-giver and even then may not be able to save her home of more than three decades.

And if the house goes, with animal rescue shelters filled to the bursting point, the future of its feline occupants is in serious doubt.

Amnesty For Jailed Illegals in Fantasyland Cook County

The illegal alien lobbyists of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) were positively abuzz will glee over the Cook County Board's Wednesday vote to grant de facto amnesty to Chicago's border jumpers.

By a 10-5 vote, that august body decreed that illegal aliens currently residing in the Cook County hoosegow should be set free to prowl Chicago's streets. This rather than turn them over to the deportation-obsessed storm troopers of the ICE.

Board members and the ever-gullible Chicago news media were under the impression that the amnesty would only apply to illegal aliens being held for misdemeanors.But within 24 hours of the diktat, the nation's second largest county was turning illegal alien felons out onto the streets.

The author of the law, Southwest side Democrat Commissioner, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and his pals at ICIRR appeared jointly to laud the benevolent development.

After all, what's a felony or two by some of Chicago's storm-tossed huddled masses, just yearning to be free and to do jobs the flaccid Americano just won't do?

Cynics will wonder what will transpire when one of the furloughed illegal alien miscreants ends up pulling a Willie Horton a few weeks after release.

Willie, you will recall, was the fellow furloughed from jail by Massachusetts Governor Mike Dukakis, who while free went on a rape and murder spree.

But while that would be a cause for distress elsewhere, here in fantasyland, multiculturalist PC Chicago it would be no problemo.

You see, the Chicago news media, ever-true to its multiculturalist credo, seldom reports the race or immigration status of such persons when it might be an embarassment to the overall self-esteem of the preferred, protected race or ethnic group.

The editor of the Chicago Tribune has said that this "report-no-evil" is the enlightened policy of his forward thinking journal.

So if one of the released illegal aliens, who should have been deported, goes on a rapacious, murderous crime spree, we simply won't know about it.

Braille Instructions for Diaper Changing

Most of us by now have seen the profusion of diaper changing stations springing up in the rest rooms of Chicago's fast food joints and other public accomodations.

They're now in all the area McDonald's and Jewel-Osco's.

Thankfully, not having need for their employment, I have seldom paid them much mind. But on one recent visit to such an accomodation, as will happen there, I found myself with time to ponder the device which was hanging on the wall across from the place of my seated repose.

There I discovered that the Koala Kare Products Corporation, of Englewood, Colorado, thoughtfully provided instructions for the use of its diaper changing table in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Braille.

Now I can understand the need for multi-lingual diaper changing instructions, given the hordes of Germans, Italians and Japanese who are illegally flooding over our borders and snapping up all the child care-diaper changing jobs that Americans just won't do.

But braille?

Do you really want a blind person caring for your kiddie? Do you really want a blind person taking your baby out to a McDonalds, stumbling up to the counter to buy him a Happy Meal and then fumbling his or her way over to the rest room to read the braille instructions before changing his diaper?

I have noticed that Obama has been on the airwaves with a public service announcement touting the wonders of the Americans with Disabilities Act on its 20th anniversary.

These braille diaper changing instructions, are, no doubt, required by the ADA and a testimony to its wonderful works.

But if you feel you really must hire a disabled person to change your baby's diapers, rather than hire a blind person, perhaps it would be best to hire one with anosmia. That dreaded disability is defined as a lack of functioning olfaction, or in other words, an inability to perceive odors.

That would make for a happier child care employee and keep the ADA enforcers of the Obama regime happy too.

Maine Twp. School Dist. 207: Millions For Fat Salaries, Not A Penny For Transparency

Posted below are the names and 2010 salaries of all teachers and administrators for Maine Township High School District 207.

Maine District 207 made the news on July 15th for being one of the area school districts that still refuses to record and put on-line the proceedings of its school board.

Maine East and Maine South and Maine West high schools and the District 207 administrative offices are wired to the hilt -- totally in step with the internet age.

But for parents and taxpayers it's the horse and buggy era. If they want to find out what their elected school board members are up to, they'll have to take off an entire night every month, get a babysitter and physically trek down to South Dee Road in Park Ridge to monitor their own school board.

You would think it would be a simple matter for a school district that has on its payroll a computer installer/repairman who is hauling down $121,274 a year as well as a business computer programmer, to whom they are forking over $106,438 a year, to simply put their meetings on-line.

But the fact is, the Maine Township school board and its fat-salaried administrators would probably just as soon not have pesky parents, taxpayers and reporters looking into what they've been up to.

And from the looks of the wildly opulent teachers salaries they've saddled the taxpayers with, I can see why.

They have an astounding 333 teachers and administrators on their payroll hauling down more than $100k a year.

You can see all of the names and salaries below, but here are some of the highlights of the Maine Twp. High schools wild salary spending spree:

--- 16 Gym Teachers hauling down between $104 and $153k a year.

--- Drivers Ed teachers being paid $149k, $145k and $121k

--- More than 20 Guidance Counselors, only 3 of which are hauling down less than $100k a year.

---Sex Ed. teachers being paid $119k, $114k and $97k

--- $137k drama coaches, $140k art teachers and a $110k dance teacher (Did Maine Twp. manage to land Sir Laurence Olivier, Pablo Picasso and Fred Astaire for these high dollar gigs?)

--- 4 librarians pulling down between $130k and $100k

--- 5 six figure social workers and 3 psychologists making between $116k and $165k

--- 9 English as a second language and bi-lingual ed teachers raking in more than six figures (remember this the next time someone tells you that there are no taxpayer costs to immigration)

And keep in mind, most of these salaries are for 9 months of work.

And keep in mind, most of these high dollar employees were from schools of education, which, according to Professor Walter Williams, are populated by the poorest students in the country with the lowest test scores.

And keep in mind, most of their "Masters degrees" were simply meaningless busy-work degrees, from these very colleges of education, which Williams calls, "the slums of American academia."

This past Monday, George Mason University Professor, Walter Williams told WLS talk hosts Wolf and Proft that our public high school teachers are generally, the most intellectually challenged, least accomplished, essentially stupid students turned out by our nation's colleges.

The renowned African-American Professor of Economics at 9:55 into the interview said:

"Schools of Education are the slums of academia.

"If you look at SAT scores, the students with the lowest SAT scores become education majors. The professors in the Schools of Education are the least academically respected faculty on the college campuses.

"Students who do graduate with a degree in the College of Education, if they go on to take the LSAT to get into law school or the GRE to get into professional school or the MCATs to get into medical school score the lowest of any students in these graduate exams.

"It just shows there's not a lot of academic quality among people who are educationists."

The Chicago Lampoon has published more than a dozen complete lists of teachers with their salaries from area schools this past year and will do so again in the coming academic year.

The publication of the, usually very bloated, salaries of these unionized government workers usually provokes a wave of outraged comments from the taxpayers who subsidize their above average incomes.

It has also provoked a gaggle of teachers' union apologists from the education establishments to post comments justifying the big salaries.

And one of the most common apologias is that the teaching salarymen very often have advanced degrees. Usually Masters degrees from some school of education.

Which advanced degrees according to Professor Williams, in real academic terms, aren't worth a warm pool of spit.

According to WLS radio news, seven black teenagers have been charged with mob action for beating and robbing a 17-year-old boy late Friday in a brutal attack outside the Cermak-Chinatown CTA station.

Chicago Police and WLS declined to report the race of the 17 year old victim, who was "stomped on" by the mob which stole his cell phone and debit card and pummelled him with their fists and feet. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was reported in serious condition. He is expected to survive.

Chicago news media have adopted an almost universal policy of refusing to identify the race of the mob attackers and victims although WLS radio has in the past deviated from this policy.

Two of the attackers were not identified by Chicago police spokesmen because they were 16. One of the five identified assailants was from Skokie and the other four were from Rogers Park.

Charged with one count each of felony robbery, mob action and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm were, Fimi Adedokun, of the 6100 block of North Damen Avenue; Stanton Demaret, of the 8100 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie; Devin Mossiah, of the 6600 block of North Ashland Avenue; Denzel Olagbegi, of the 1400 block of West Pratt Boulevard; and Duwon Polk, of the 1700 block of West Pratt Boulevard.

Police said that the attack which was captured on CTA surveillance cameras, showed several of the thugs making a running leap and pouncing on the victim's head.

The seven black suspects are expected to appear in bond court Saturday.

According to Jon Hilkevitch's August 15th report in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago isn't a very safe place to walk.

Over the period 2004-2009, 18,377 pedestrians were mowed down by cars here. And the report noted that about 2 hit-and-run crashes resulting in a pedestrian getting maimed or killed occur every day in Chicago

"Among the more troubling findings of the study commissioned by the Chicago Department of Transportation is that an average of two hit-and-run pedestrian crashes resulting in deaths or injuries take place each day in Chicago. Hit-and-runs account for 33 percent of vehicle-pedestrian collisions and 41 percent of those that are fatal, double the national average, officials said.

That's 5,534 hit-and-runs over the five-year stretch, causing 3,683 deaths and injuries, officials said."

That's a disturbing statistic: Chicago has twice the national average rate of hit-and-run incidents where pedestrians are maimed or killed.

But the ever-politically correct Mr. Hilkevitch and his Chicago Tribune bosses don't bother to ask why.

With half a million illegal aliens in the state and most in "sanctuary city," Chicago, it would be a fair speculation that they are the cause of the wildly above average rate of fatal hit-and-runs here.

The average sentient citizen is eminently cognizant of the victimization of the populace by illegal alien drivers, but of course, the Tribune wouldn't dare systematically look into the phenomenon for fear of what it might find.

But there is no shortage of salient examples.

For example:

--- Chicago Police Officer Michael Gordon lost his life in August 2004 to an illegal alien drunk driver. Officer Gordon was in the driver's seat of his squad car when it was struck by Luis Calle, a Guatemalan, whose blood alcohol level was 0.177, twice the legal limit.

--- Just this past June 10, William "Dennis" McCann, 66, a long-time Chicago insurance agent and graduate of Mendel High School was run down and killed in Logan Square by Saul Chavez, an illegal alien driving without a license and having 4x the legally allowable blood alcohol level.

In fact there is an entire on-line memorial to the American victims of illegal alien criminals -- many of the Americans having been killed by hit-and-run illegal alien drivers.

Everybody knows this is going on. But the Chicago Tribune won't even ask why illegal alien "sanctuary city" Chicago ranks so astronomically high in hit-and-run fatalities for pedestrians.

In its monumental lack of curiosity, the Tribune is engaged in a de facto coverup. In this its editors are nothing less than criminal abettors -- pimps, if you will.

Several years back I was at a thrift store on Western Avenue and on the rack amidst the second hand Brooks Brothers and Jos. A. Banks mens' suits, I spied a lone lodenjanker.

That's a traditional country sport jacket indigenous to Bavaria and the other Southern regions of Germany and the odds of that showing up in a Chicago thrift store are something like 1 in a million. I'm sure my ancestors wore them, but I'm sure no one in my line has worn one in well over 100 years.

It fit me and I was tempted to buy it. But then better sense prevailed. When, after all, would I actually wear the damned thing? Maybe once a year at Maifest Chicago or possibly at an occasional Dank Haus stammtisch.

And I would feel like a damned fool being seen in it on the streets of Chicago going to and from those events.

Well, it seems I might have passed up a great bargain, because now, word comes from Der Spiegel that traditional Bavarian couture is becoming the hottest thing in Germany today -- not just in Bavaria but everywhere.

Sort of like as in Huey Lewis' 1985 song, "It's hip to be square", it's apparently becoming so hip to don lederhosen or a dirndl in many parts of Germany - at least for parties and special events - that manufacturers of the traditional apparel can't keep pace with demand and prices are soaring.

Helene Fischer, Francine Jordi and Andrea Berg among many other schlager songstresses have been photographed wearing dirndl, to very good effect.

I should have bought that lodenjanker when I had the chance.

Lemont's Old Quarry Middle School

Posted below are the 2010 salaries for the administrators and teachers in the Lemont-Bromberek school district 113A.

The district operates Oakwood and River Valley schools and Old Quarry Middle School.

This district comes to our attention because, if the allegations made on WIND radio Sunday are true, its Old Quarry Middle school has been engaging in a vile form of leftist political indoctrination more reminiscent of a Soviet Lenninist education camp than a suburban Chicago Lemont school.

On Sunday's Champion News show, sponsored by Jack Roeser's Family Taxpayers Foundation, the guests were three kids who had independently formed a Junior Tea Party organization in Lemont.

One of them, an emigre from the former Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, reported that he was sent to the Old Quarry school's principal's office by a female social studies teacher there for the high crime of saying that he was a conservative who did not care for Obama and his ilk.

Apparently, in the view of the leftist ideologue, who is paid quite handsomely to teach at Old Quarry, this constituted a thought crime of such magnitude as to require disciplinary force.

Stories of left-wing indoctrination on college campuses are legion. The Philadelphia-based Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE)files thousands of lawsuits annually against colleges and universities that engage in this manner of Orwellian thought control.

FIRE's civil rights lawyers almost always win.

But now it appears that the thought police have spread their tenacles down to even the middle school level

Maybe FIRE should take a look at the allegations of blatant civil rights violations at Lemont's Old Quarry Middle School.

Skokie's Favorite Hitler Fan: Mohandas K. Gandhi

On October 2, 2004, with much fanfare and an obvious eye toward the burgeoning Indian vote in his village, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen unveiled Illinois' first statue of Mohandas Gandhi.

The 8 ft. tall bronze statue stands in Skokie's sculpture park/bike path near Dempster and McCormick a mere 2 blocks down the road from the Illinois Holocaust Museum.

The marble base upon which the statue sets contains an accolade to the Indian ascetic, which reads, "Apostle of Non-violence, Love, Truth and Justice." It also contains four quotations from the Indian nationalist leader -- all lofty appeals to truth, justice, righteousness, yada, yada, yada.

Oddly it omitted this utterance that the Mahatma issued in the Indian Newspaper, Harijan on April 22nd, 1940 -- the day that France formally surrendered to the armies of Adolf Hitler:

"Germans of future generations will honour Herr Hitler as a genius, as a brave man, a matchless organizer and much more."

Let me repeat. That glowing endorsement of Adolf Hitler, the murderer of 6 million Jews and 4 million others was written by Mahatma Gandhi.

I stumbled onto that little gem on page 190 of award-winning historian, John Lukacs' 1990 work, The Duel: 10 May-31 July 1940 - The Eighty Day Struggle Between Churchill and Hitler.

As I recall, members of Skokie Mayor Van Dusen's Democrat party howled when it was revealed that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's father had been a member of Hitler's National Socialist Party.

And they actually sought to shoot down the nomination of a Reagan appointee to a Treasury Department post when it was revealed that as a 10 year old boy he had been enlisted in the Hitler Youth -- the equivalent of the Boy Scouts. In fact, Van Dusen was a top aide then to one of the very liberal Congressmen, Sidney Yates, who was making those noises.

But neither of those ever even came near the outright endorsement of Adolf Hitler that was penned by the supposed Indian holy man.

Odd, the selectivity of the outrage of these doctrinaire left-wing pols, isn't it?

Sooner or later we're all going to have to contemplate our inevitable date with the grim reaper.

Given the few short decades given us to walk this vale of tears, one can hope that when the time comes, it will be peaceful -- perhaps painless -- maybe even meaningful --- but certainly not ridiculous.

That has unfortunately become the sad plight of an ever-increasing number of ideologues of the left, so drunk on their own snake oil as to become a cause for horse laughs on the occasion of their passing.

My all-time favorite in this category was the immortal health food crackpot, Jerome Rodale. He was felled by a gripper (see Chicago Lampoon 4/22/10) before Dick Cavett's live studio audience, minutes after boasting that he would live to be 100 due to his interesting diet of wild nuts and tree bark.

And then there was the animal-loving Ms. Frances Frost, a self-described "environmental dancer" of Canmore, Canada.
After her pet dog was killed by a wild cougar on her property, she refused to allow hunters permission to seek out the blood-thirsty beast and shoot it.

Weeks later, Ms. Frost danced her last eco-friendly tango, as the self-same kitty cat stalked, mauled and killed her.

But now comes sad news from Northern Europe of the nature-loving student who was eaten by a bear while on a school field trip to study "man-made global warming."

It seems that, caught up in a frenzy of excitement over the global warming flapdoodle, a group of 5 British students went off to the isolated Norwegian isle of Spitsbergen to conduct their own studies (replete, no doubt, with falsified data and faked e-mails.)

While communing with nature there, these nature-worshipping Brits ran into a bear. He did not take kindly to nature lovers invading his natural habitat, so naturally, he attacked them.

Four of the young scholars narrowly escaped with their lives, but one, Horatio Chapple, 17, was killed. When his remains were recovered, it seems that the bear had decided that young Master Chapple would make the perfect filling lunch for a cold Nordic day.

So now, young Chapple has entered the never-ending cycle of nature by way of the bear's digestive system. On the bright side, however, at least his carbon footprint has been reduced to a very sustainable, zero.

I'd be willing to bet a steak dinner at Chicago's famed Gibson's Steakhouse that these five British lads were devoted, holier-than-thou vegetarians.

Too bad the bear wasn't.

WGN's Dean Richards Blasts Tribune's Anti-Palin Bias

If there were any lingering doubt as to the depths to which the Chicago Tribune has sunk in its bias against ideas and personalities conservative, it was put to rest this morning by the Tribune Corporation's own Dean Richards.

On his Sunday morning WGN radio arts show, Richards excoriated the Tribune editorial scribes for bastardizing his Sunday Tribune Arts column with an overtly misleading and what he termed "mean spirited" anti-Palin headline.

Richards conducted an interview with four time Oscar nominee, Julianne Moore. In the print interview, he questioned her on her role in the new comedy, "Crazy Stupid Love."

Four paragraphs later in the article, he questioned Moore regarding her portrayal of former vice-Presidential candidate, Sara Palin in the TV movie, "Game Change."

With this body of copy a Tribune headline writer came up with the headline for Dean's column, "Moore talks 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' and playing Sarah Palin."

On his radio broadcast, Richard's was uncharacteristically furious. "The headline completely misrepresented my article -- it was mean spirited and not the right thing to do," Richards said.

"You can see why people would say the Tribune is biased when they do things like that and some people will look only at the headline and think that Dean Richards is a biased cheap shot artist, " he said.

Richards said that he fired off an e-mail to Tribune editorial personnel asking for an explanation and asking for the name of the headline writer.

He had not yet received an answer at the time of his Sunday morning broadcast.

"I am no fan of Sara Palin and people who know me know that, Dean Richards said. "But this was just not the right thing to do."

I'm eagerly waiting for the next liberal Tribune apologist to predictably summon up the ghost of Colonel McCormick and tell us that the Tribune editorially endorses lots of Republicans so it really is Chicago's right-wing paper.

Fact is the Chicago Tribune has become a dissembling left-wing rag. And now, even some of its few remaining intellectually honest employees are admitting as much.

Progress Illinois, the voice of zany leftism in the state, reacted to yesterday's opening of the first Walmart in Chicago by reaffirming their call to boycott Walmart and blasting lefty U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin for his ties to the firm.

After long opposition from organized big-labor in Chicago, Walmart finally gained City Council approval to open here and it did so yesterday in the impoverished black Chatham neighborhood.

At a smaller than usual 10k sq. ft. "Walmart Express" it will provide there, among many other things, discount groceries and fresh produce in an area long lamented by Chicago's libs as a "grocery desert."

And at the new store, Walmart gave jobs to 50 people selected from a pool of neighborhood applicants in high-unemployment Chatham.

Apparently that's not good enough for the loony lefties at Progress Illinois. On their website yesterday they restated their call for a consumer boycott of Walmart and even blasted their champion, Senator Dick Durbin for his ties to the evil corporate giant:

"Walmart has announced it is donating $20 million to charities and opening several dozen new stores in Chicago area; this is no surprise since records show repeated contact and donations from Walmart PAC to Sen Dick Durbin; Two of Durbins (sic) former aides, are now lobbyists for the top Democratic powerhouse firm Podesta Group, which lobby's (sic) for Walmart."

Walmart just can't win with Chicago's lefties. If it gave away all of the contents of it's Chatham Walmart Express for free, Progress Illinois would blast them for "cultural insensitivity" for insulting Chatham's residents with handouts.

I wonder, will Dick Durbin move to make amends and mollify his pals over at Progress Illinois by returning all his campaign cash from Walmart?

Cook County Board May Free Illegal Aliens From County Jail Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning the Cook County Board will consider Commissioner Jesus Garcia's (D-Chi) bill to require the county jail to release illegal aliens being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unless they have been convicted of a felony or two misdemeanors.

Currently Cook County jail remands 6 illegal aliens a day over to ICE.

This is the latest in the effort of Chicago multiculturalists and open borders enthusiasts to nullify American immigration laws locally.

This comes on top of Cook County Sheriff, Tom Dart's July 11th announcement that he was unilaterally looking into legal ways that his office could cease co-operation with ICE.

According to WBEZ radio, if Dart suspends enforcement of immigration laws or if Garcia's bill should pass, it would make Cook County the largest local government entity in the nation to be in non-compliance with US law.

And Garcia's new bill also comes on top of Cook County State's Attorney, Anita Alverez' March 25th decision to evict ICE from the Cook County Court Building, where it had been assessing the immigration status of arrestees and putting a "hold order" on those found to be illegally here.

Sheriff Tom Dart: Cultural Marxist?

The elected Chicago pols who are opposed to enforcement of US immigration laws are undermining them in a manner that can only be described as "death by 1,000 cuts."

Tomorrow morning, the Cook County Board of Commissioners, should it pass Jesus Garcia's de facto local amnesty, could deliver the local coup de grace to our duly constituted immigration laws.

Oh, by the way. The last person to be put on hold for deportation before Alvarez kicked ICE out of the courthouse was one Marek Tomaszewska.

He was arrested for attempted murder for beating his ex-girlfriend into an inch of her life. He pushed her to the ground and repeatedly kicked her in the face. He had a previous battery conviction in this country. He is eligible for deportation and is being held at the Cook County jail.

He could be the last deportee from Chicago.

NEWS UPDATE 11/27/11 -- At 11th hour during the Wednesday morning Cook County Board meeting, Mr. Garcia announced that he was withdrawing the bill from consideration in order to "rethink it." Apparently this San Francisco-styled amnesty plan was a trifle too zany for even the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

To look at the recent 2011 Eurovision Song Competition, our victory is every bit as thorough as that of Rome over Carthage.

The winning entry in that iconic pan-European competition was a duo from the former Soviet state of Azerbaijan who sang a completely American-styled pop song in almost perfect Midwestern American English.

The Euro song winners were a couple calling themselves ELL/Nikki. They prevailed with a song called, "Running Scared," (not Roy Orbison's classic American rock version.)

Our Liberal Democrat Mayor Rahm Emanuel became more than a little testy when asked by NBC's Mary Ann Ahern as to whether he was sending his children to the gold-plated, private University of Chicago Lab School.

"What I do as a father is separate from what I do as a public official," he whinnied.

In other words, as a father, Rahm Emanuel thinks that the Chicago public schools stink. But as a public official, in debt to the powerful teachers unions, he thinks they're just fine.

He chose private schools for his kids.

He says everybody else should have no choice but to suffer the hideous Chicago Public schools.

You see Emanuel opposes voucher school choice systems that would enable parents to use their school tax monies to send their kids to good private schools like his kids. He opposes school choice because the teachers unions do. Education big-labor could never abide vouchers, because the rotten schools they operate would be out of business in very short order.

Emanuel is hardly the first liberal hypocrite to hide his kids away at Ritzy, safe, competent private schools while singing the praises of public education for the plebians.

Public school boosters, Barack Obama, Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, the Kennedys and 40% of Chicago Public school teachers send their own kids to good private schools.

If you live in Chicago and desire a decent education for your kids, you do however have a choice. Just bring money -- lots of it:

It's just too hot to even think about Chicago politics. So it's a perfect time for our annual Chicago Lampoon summer song fest.

This year I'll include one that was banned from the Chicago airwaves.

When I posted my favorite summer songs last year, I didn't realize that 2 were from the summer of 1966. Frank Sinatra's "Summer Wind," hit #1 that year and the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City" hit was the #4 top seller of 1966.

Since we'll almost certainly have another thunderstorm tonight, for good measure, this year, I thought I'd throw in another favorite from the summer of '66, Lou Christie's Rhapsody in the Rain which reached #16.

It would have done a lot better on the charts, but the Catholic Cardinal of Chicago in 1966, John Cardinal Cody, had it banned from airplay on WLS and WCFL -- the two major pop stations at the time, in the nation's 2nd largest market.

Seems the Cardinal thought that the rhythmic windshield wipers while "makin' out in the rain" and "makin' love in the storm," were just a little too morally corrosive for our young souls.

Ever since I began posting complete lists of public school teachers' salaries, I've been getting scores of irate letters from teachers or their union shills.

They have become so tiresome in their predictability.

After characterizing the work of a school marm as being something more grueling than that of the a Gulag-era Kolymian gold miner, they then say that teachers deserve a "living wage" or "a decent salary."

The last one who wrote this, just today, worked at Skokie's Niles West High School where a $230k gym teacher is the highest paid gym teacher in the state, if not the nation. Salaries at her public school in modest Skokie are only surpassed by those in opulent Lake Forest.

And it's just not government school employees.

Today the Illinois Policy Institute released its exhaustive study on public sector v. private sector salaries in Illinois.

Would it surprise you to learn that government employees make lots more?

The Illinois Policy Institute report showed:

---Compensation per state government employee averaged $69,500, which is 23 percent more than the private sector worker average of $56,500. Much of the difference was in employer-paid benefits, which were more than 1.5 times that of private employees. State employees received 16 percent more in wages and salaries than private employees.

---Compensation per local government employee averaged $63,100, which is 12 percent more than the private sector worker average of $56,500. Much of the difference was in employer-paid benefits, which were more than 1.5 times that of private employees. Local government employees received 4 percent more in wages and salaries than private employees.

The Euro schlager music superstar Helene Fischer sounds so beautiful in her native German. And to say she is easy on the eyes is a monumental understatement.

But when she chooses English language songs to cover, it seems she has developed a career death wish. Lately, her choices seem to have been just simply godawful.

Eric Carmen was the bane of American men and boys during the 1970s, churning out some of the most maudlin, schlocky, syrupy, downright crappy chick music of all time.

And lo and behold, the gorgeous Helen Fischer decides to cover one of his tunes -- what is possibly in the top 10 list of all-time worst American pop songs -- All By Myself.

And then apparently, the sadly ill-educated Fraulein (she only ever studied singing, dancing and acting) decided she wants to show her "social conscience" by covering the shrieky, trite "What about us? -- Earth Song" -- popularized by no less a pea-brain than the late pederast, and monkey petter, Michael Jackson.

One begins to wonder who Helene Fischer's career advisers are -- Moe, Larry and Curly?

"Muskrat Love", by the Captain and Teneille, in a CNN poll and several other surveys has been voted by Americans as the stupidest pop song of all time.

With the idiotic selections she's been making in English language songs, look for Helene Fischer to be covering that little gem any day now.

A major music festival in Chicago this weekend, is showcasing a black rap group, Odd Future, that overtly sings of murdering white girls, raping girls of any racial group, lesbians defecating in synogogues, and beating the hell out of homosexuals.

Oddly there's nary a peep out of Chicago's progessive liberals. In fact, several noted left-leaning groups are financially sponsoring the event.

The 5th annual Pitchfork Music festival is being held today thru July 17th at Union Park on Chicago's West side.

The appearance of the racist, misogynistic, homophobic group is made possible by the event's sponsors: Heineken Beer, Whole Foods Market, WBEZ Chicago Public Radio, The Chicago Reader,Puma, Urban Outfitters, Lifeway Kefir, Zipcar, Emusic, TimeOut Chicago, WXRT radio and several others.

Pitchfork event writer, Sean Fennessey, told the Tribune, "They (Odd Future) rap about raping women. Often."

Now it is a bit peculiar that the "progressives" in Evanston were a mere two months ago, howling over the sexist misogyny of a businessman who wanted to start an eatery featuring waitresses in sexy "Tilted Kilts."

They indignantly painted pictures of aroused patrons taking to the streets to molest school girls because of the inciteful attire there. They killed that proposal

But no complaints with this black rap group.

And the Chicago Tribune shudders at the thought of mentioning the race of the black mobsters attacking whites on the North side and gays in Boystown.

But no complaints with the overtly anti-white lyrics of this black rap group.

I'm sure that Heineken and Whole Foods and WBEZ Chicago Public Radio have corporate-sponsored seminars on the need for racial sensitivity and respect in the workplace.

But no problem sponsoring this black rap group.

The hypocrisy of the Chicago liberal-progressive establishment is breathtaking.

3 Armed Blacks Invade Home in Lake Forest: Fruits Of Obama Racial Profiling Law

If you've been thinking that maybe you could insulate your family from urban black crime by amassing a pile of money and moving to tony Lake Forest, think again.

The Lake Forest GazeboNews reported yesterday that a gang of three armed and masked black men are sought in connection with the invasion and armed robbery of an occupied home there, July 8th.

According to the report, the armed invaders bound a woman in duct tape and held her at gunpoint while they ransacked the house stealing jewelry and electronics.

The three suspects are still at large.

It's fortunate that Lake Forest's on-line newspaper hasn't the qualms of the censorious PC "reporters" at the Chicago Tribune who refuse to mention the race of offenders or suspects if they happen to be protected minorities.

The Tribune's Mary Schmich and Dawn Turner Trice have editorialized that reporting such racial identification serves no useful purpose and makes minorities feel bad.

But this event does raise a matter of important public policy.

It is entirely possible that black criminals are now feeling emboldened to prey upon victims in predominately white suburbs due to the 2004 Illinois racial profiling law.

The bill was proposed by Illinois State Senator Barack Obama in 2000 at the urging of the ACLU.

When in the past, suburban police departments such as Lake Forest's would have found some rationale for stopping suspicious looking blacks cruising an affluent neighborhood, today they can't.

In fact, liberal Highland Park, (just South of Lake Forest) hired an independent investigator to monitor all stops of racial minorities there.

No doubt, that has had a chilling effect on police surveillance of prospective criminals there and, as of 2004, throughout the state of Illinois.

If you're a black burglar, robber or other miscreant just go up to Lake Forest, Highland Park or any other North Shore suburb and case the joints. And if you're stopped by the cops and questioned, yell "racial profiling."

And call Barack Obama's Justice Department.

as leftist Mayor Tisdahl lurks in the wings

The children of the late, legendary Republican statehouse leader, W. Russell Arrington announced that they are donating half a million dollars to the bankrupt, leftist City of Evanston.

In return for this they will get their old pappy's name on a lagoon.

Just imagine the caretakers of Ronald Reagan's legacy pouring in funds to bail out an economically mismanaged, socialist Berkeley, California and you get the picture.

Arrington, who was elected from Evanston to the state legislature from 1945 to 1972 -- back when it was a conservative bastion -- was known as Mr. North Shore Republican.

The powerful leader of the Illinois State Senate he was fiscally and socially conservative to the core. An ardent devotee of the staunch anti-communist, Richard M. Nixon, he was tough on crime, tough on drugs, and tough on Democrat machine voter fraud.

Now his heirs are shelling out a lot of cash to get a lagoon named after him in Evanston.

Evanston is today the Illinois paradigm for leftist social nincompoopery.

It voted 87.14% for Obama in '08. The Evanston Township High School recently jettisoned its advanced honors programs because hardly any blacks and Latinos could qualify. Its City Council is seriously considering banning plastic shopping bags to save the earth. It thwarts business development at every turn. Its government actually has a full time, paid "sustainability director."

And it is going broke.

Evanston's current mayor, an aging feminist Earth Mother named Elizabeth Tisdahl, in a rare moment of candor, actually told the Pioneer Press as much.

"I feel bad having to tell these new city hires about our employee benefits packages, because I know we won't be able to pay for them down the road," she confessed.

Enter the feeble minded offspring of Senator Arrington.

At the end of June, the paunchy diminutive heirs, Michael Arrington and Pat Smythe announced a $500,000 gift to the City of Evanston for improvements to a city-run lakeshore lagoon. It will be named for their father.

Surrounded by Tisdahl and a gaggle of fawning, local lefty pols at the Dawes Park site, the two heirs announced that they had "collectively made the decision."

I always thought that a "collective" consisted of more than 2 parties, but in new-age Evanston, who knows?

So here you have half a million dollars from a foundation named in honor of a prominent, fiercely partisan Republican conservative going to patch leaks in the foundering hull of the state's premier socialist municipality.

Ardent budget-balancer, W. Russell Arrington is surely turning over in his grave.
